Here's what Craig Silvey had to say about the 2009 Indie Book Award: “It’s a tremendous honour to be the fiction category winner of the Indie Award. It’s a wonderful thing, and a real thrill to be recognised by folks I so earnestly admire. Since I first hit the shelves I’ve been stunned by the belief and generous support I’ve been readily afforded by independent booksellers throughout the country. It’s the enthusiastic handselling by dedicated booksellers that allow authors like me, whose names are much smaller than their titles, an opportunity to find their way to willing readers. It’s a vital conduit that absolutely means the world. So, thank you, I’m incredibly grateful.”
