Craig Silvey has been named the new patron for the City of Subiaco’s young writers awards. He he takes the reins from Tim Winton, who was patron for 30 years. The Craig Silvey Award for Young Writers will launch in June and will be open to young writers across Western Australia in years 1-12. Read more about this in Sarah Makse's article for PerthNow . March 21, 2023.

Runt has been named Book of the Year at the 2023 Australian Book Industry Awards (also known as the Indie Book Awards). Independent booksellers around Australia picked Craig Silvey's children's novel as the winner. This is the second time Silvey has won Indie Book of the Year after taking home the title for Jasper Jones in 2009. On this award, Silvey said: "It bears reiterating that I owe my career to the support of Australia’s independent bookstores." (Source. Archive.)
